Excessive Noise Analysis

Is your driveability problem caused by excessive noise in the car's electrical system? Noise can affect sensor input signals and cause performance and emission problems.

Figure 3

Figure 1 displays noise on a TPS input signal at idle. Figure 2 is a Ford PIP signal and Figure 3 is a GM DREF signal that has excessive noise on the tops and bottoms of the signals. Leaking diodes in the alternator caused the noise in these examples.
