For different application solutions, communicating via the vehicle's diagnostic interface, it is important to be able to establish communication with a specific ECU independent of the current ECU and software versions. It should not be necessary to completely test an application each time a change is made during development. Instead, there should be a one-time verification of ECU communication for multiple usage.
In addition to standardised communication protocols (ISO 14230 KWP2000 or ISO 15765 Diagnostics on CAN), the standardised description for the ECU diagnostic interface and its services is of special importance. Softing products support the interface ASAM MCD for the description and integration of the control unit, measurement, calibration and diagnostic interfaces ASAM MCD-2 (database) and ASAM MCD-3 (application programming interface). The Diagnostic Tool Set system concept supports the use of ASAM MCD-2 and customer-specific databases over the entire process chain, from ECU development all the way to the after-sales tester. With Softing products and services, ASAM MCD-2 databases can be created, verified and implemented.
