CALIFORNIA BUREAU OF AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR - CERTIFIED
As part of our portable family of analysis tools, Omitec offers an improved 4 and 5 gas emission analyzer that can be used either in the shop bay or on the road.
These 11 lb. analyzers meet California BAR-97, OIML Class 1 and 0, and ISO 3930 requirements. Connected to the PDA tools through a serial communication link (included), you can view HC, CO, CO2,O2 and NOx (with 5 gas bench) with RPM, AFR or lambda and a single lab scope channel. You can also save gas files and screens for later review and analysis or print screens directly to a printer or PC for record keeping.
The PDA4GBD is the 4-gas version, and can be field converted to 5-gas when required. The PDA5GBD is the 5 gas version. Both are powered using a 12 volt vehicle battery adapter or AC adapter (both provided). This allows you to place the analyzer in the vehicle trunk and make loaded measurements on the road, without having to invest in a costly dynamometer. Additionally, Omitec provides a PC based system that can be interfaced to the PDA4GBD or PDA5GBD for viewing and recording emission analysis on PC or Lap-Top computer.

Also, using our PDAGBSW emission diagnostic or PDAGBAEA emission certification, PC-based software programs, you can connect and run the analyzer directly from a shop or laptop PC if desired.
The PDA4GBD and PDA5GBD are a must for any shop involved in the emission service business, or emissions based diagnostic work.
Tail pipe Analysis as a Diagnostic Tool: Residual gasses in exhaust can give important diagnostic clues to a vehicle's engine efficiency. Three of the five gases are regulated pollutants, HC, CO and NOx. The remaining gases, oxygen (O2) and carbon dioxide (CO2), while non-regulated, play a significant role as diagnostic aids. The table shows some problems to check based on the output levels of these 5 gases.
