Automotive ultrasound diagnostic system
In minutes you’ll be using non-intrusive ultrasound to isolate difficult-to-find seal, hose and gasket leaks, mechanical malfunctions and even electrical problems.
The first and only ultrasound diagnostic system designed especially for the automotive service industry, OmiSonic detects ultrasound (sound above the normal hearing range, or above 20kHz) and converts it to familiar, readily recognizable sounds so you can isolate and differentiate vehicle component and system defects and failures, including those very early in the failure cycle.
Use it to detect and pinpoint:
- Leaks in vacuum and pressure air, gas and fluid systems, including leaks in EVAP, fuel, cooling, air conditioning and hydraulic systems.
- Mechanical malfunctions, including bearing, bushing, gear, valve, cylinder, pump and actuator failures.
- Electrical malfunctions, including electrical problems with relays, stepper motors, harnesses and injectors
Applications:
- Leak detection
- Cooling systems
- Fuel systems
- Hydraulic systems
- Intake manifold systems
- Exhaust systems
- EVAP systems
- Other vacuum systems
- Door and window seals
- Other rubber seals
- Tyres
- Mechanical malfunctions
- Motors
- Valves
- Fuel injectors
- Compressors
- Bearings
- Shafts
- Gears
Pumps - Electrical problems
- Relays
- Stepper motors
- Injectors
- Ignition components
Modes of operation:
- Contact method. Technician presses the tip of the solid probe against the housing of internal operating components like bearings, gears, valves, solenoids, pistons, cylinders, etc.
- Scan method. Technician aims the ultrasound receiver at the most intense ultrasound to detect and pinpoint leaks in compressed air, vacuum and gas systems and electrical arcing.
- Ultrasound receiver used in conjunction with ultrasound transmitter. After placing the transmitter inside any enclosed space (e.g. vehicle's passenger compartment), technician sweeps the receiver over the suspect seals (e.g. window seals) to detect and pinpoint escaping ultrasound that indicates a leak.
Features:
- Read and display diagnostic trouble codes, and description
- Using state-of-the-art ultrasound diagnostic technology, OmiSonic enables you to simply point and listen to detect and pinpoint the most difficult to find leaks, mechanical malfunctions and electrical problems.
- Detects even very faint ultrasound and converts it to a frequency within the normal hearing range, allowing you to hear it through the system's headphones.
- Detects ultrasound within a frequency band centered at 40,000 Hertz and ranging from 20,000 Hertz to 100,000 Hertz.
- Uses a unique filtering technology to block out competing sounds so you can clearly hear only the one you're investigating, even when vehicle components are within close proximity or in extremely noisy environments.
- Enables you to recognize even subtle anomalies in ultrasonic signatures as worn parts, bad connections, low insulating levels, poor lubrication or some other form of component malfunction or failure.
- Even test non-pressurized containers and cavities for leaks, using the system’s ultrasound transmitter to fill them with ultrasound.
- Simple, intuitive controls to adjust sensitivity and sound volume heard through headset.
- No calibration and no special maintenance required.
- Selection of probe attachments to focus the area of reception and provide easy access to difficult-to-reach locations.
- Both ultrasound receiver and transmitter are housed in shop-ruggedized, high-impact plastic cases to maximize tool life in harsh shop environments.
- Easy-to-follow, comprehensive user’s manual will quickly step you through everything you need to know to troubleshoot specific diagnostic problems (e.g. vacuum hose leaks, EVAP system leaks, bearing failures, intake manifold gasket leaks, passenger door seal leaks, etc.)
OmiSonic kit includes: Ultrasound receiver, ultrasound transmitter, one “solid” aluminum probe, one acoustic probe, headset, user’s manual and hard storage case.
