Omitec provide a dedicated programme of technical training courses, recognising the need to support the professional diagnostic technician with practical workshop based learning. Delivered by a dedicated trainer in both the classroom and adjoining workshop, Omitec training courses cater for the diagnostic novice right through to the most advanced technician. Places are purposely kept to 6-8 per course so that we can deliver a very personalised programme with the trainer taking a variety of questions we ensure that everyone gets exactly what they want from the course.
Courses are run throughout the year, primarily at the Omitec Training School in Oxford, but we also offer courses at a variety of locations throughout the UK depending on demand. For those customers who require a dedicated programme, we are able to design bespoke courses for specific products or dedicated groups.
The following courses are accredited by the IMI; candidates receive a certificate from the IMI upon satisfactory completion of each course and an invitation to apply for membership. Courses also count toward the IMI Continuing Professional Development programme.
This course covers the Principles of Diagnostics, scan tool, EOBD, interpreting the serial data stream, actuator testing and adaptions, engine management and gas analysis in fault diagnosis. The course begins in the classroom where the trainer covers the basic theory of each section of the course, quickly moving to the workshop for practical demonstrations and hands on testing.
Following on from Practical Diagnostics, Advanced Diagnostics recaps the principles of diagnostics and basic electrics taught on the one-day course. We then introduce candidates to oscilloscopes and move quickly into starting and charging systems, ignition systems, engine management systems, fault finding and ignition waveform analysis. Each subject area is covered in detail and therefore aimed at the more experienced technician or graduate of Practical Diagnostics.
Omitec have trained a large number of technicians from a wide variety of companies including the RAC, BT, Thames Valley Police, MoTest, Lotus Cars, Franchised Dealers and Independent Garages, all of which have gained something from the courses. Some of the comments from our satisfied candidates:
