With registrations for Champion Technician of the Year hitting record highs, it has been confirmed that leading diagnostic tool provider Omitec, has joined Ferodo as a co-sponsor.
Omitec sits alongside industry bodies the RMIF and IMI in support of the initiative to find the UK’s best technician of 2006.
Omitec will provide technical assistance at the final and over £5K of diagnostic tools to the weighty winner’s prize bag, which already includes a £2,500 holiday of choice and a 4x4 adventure-driving weekend in the Lake District. Runners-up will also benefit from Omitec’s involvement.
John Watkins, Omitec Chairman said: “This move reflects our commitment to the aftermarket and demonstrates how important we feel it is to showcase the very best of the UK for the good of the industry.
“We have joined forces with leading manufacturers and governing bodies in recognition of this competition’s true capability to find the UK’s very best technician.”
Bright Sparks who complete the registration phase will be first tested with 20 multiple-choice questions and if successful a further theory paper to find ten technicians who represent the cream of UK talent.
With confirmation of a new location, the final showdown will be held at one of the world’s leading test facilities at Chapel-en-le-Frith near Buxton, the home of leading friction brand Ferodo.
Technicians are promised a host of practical and theory tests covering brakes, ignition, customer service and steering & suspension to name a few areas under scrutiny.
The addition of Omitec and the outstanding facilities set to host the final, confirms Technician of the Year as the UK’s pre-eminent search for the greatest technician in 2006.
