Omitec has launched a range of battery testers to suit everyone from the apprentice technician to the most advanced professional. There are two smart battery testers in the range, the 5300 series and the 5500 series which also has an optional printer.
The smart battery testers rely on Large Pulse Resistance technology to deliver a series of very short duration high current loads to the battery. This method of testing is more accurate than conventional conductance testing and eliminates distortion caused by electrical equipment in the vehicle meaning that batteries can be tested whilst still fitted to the vehicle and even with the vehicle engine running. The 5300 series tester also auto compensates for temperature and on the 5500 series for state of charge as well.
Being able to test batteries on the vehicle instead of bench testing means that if desired tests can be performed right in front of the customer, adding credibility and giving instant results to gain maximum impact. The 5500 series also comes with an optional printer to enable results and diagnosis to be printed out.
Chairman John Watkins said “Omitec is a market leader and innovator and once again we believe we have delivered. Our new range of battery testers utilise Large Pulse Resistance (LPR) technology to enable garages to be even more productive by saving time after time over conventional bench testing. My message is use these diagnostic tools to identify battery failure before it happens.”
