Omitec Group is pleased to announce the establishment of a division specialising in the provision of design services to electric car manufacturers.
This division will undertake complete projects in all aspects of the electrical design phase, diagnostic and technical publication consultancy for after sales and supply and support of service bay equipment.
The establishment of this new business follows a number of contract awards by electric car companies over the past two years. As a result, Omitec has developed considerable specialist skills in the particular field of the automotive industry.

Omitec, suppliers of garage test equipment and diagnostics to the automotive market have supplied VOSA with their portable Diesel Smokemeter, the OmiSmoke for roadside ‘spot checks’ on vehicle emissions. VOSA has pledged to assist the UK in its mission to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 12.5% below 1990 levels in line with the Kyoto commitment and move towards a 20% reduction in CO2 emissions below 1990 levels by 2010, hence the arrival of the spot checks to take the worst polluting vehicles off the road and to make the motoring public aware of the importance of maintaining vehicles and keeping to the legal emission limits all year, and not just for the MOT.

Omitec has received recognition for its popular OmiScan diagnostic tool from PMM magazine. Richard Bowler, PMM Editor presented the diagnostic ‘Top Product’ award during the recent Mechanex Exhibition at Sandown Park in Surrey. Omitec has been awarded the prestigious Motor ‘Top 20’ award for its OmiNspect CAN based reset tool. The judging panel announced the award winners at a special luncheon hosted by Motor magazine and John Watkins, Omitec Chairman was delighted to accept the award on behalf of the whole Omitec Team.
Omitec has launched an updated and revised range of emissions products including a combined PC based gas and smoke unit, PC based stand alone Gas, non PC based Gas and stand alone diesel smoke meter for both car and commercial use. Designed with MOT stations and garages in mind the new range includes a complete redesign of the trolley featuring a unique smoked acrylic front door allowing the operator to monitor the equipment at all times whilst offering protection from dust and dirt in the workshop. The new designed trolley also includes a 17 inch TFT flat screen monitor on a purpose designed bracket to allow maximum use of the available work surface. All of the equipment is approved for use in MOT stations and can be supplied with a 5 year ‘all inclusive’ support package including calibrations, service, updates and warranty.
Following the success of the OmiPro Dealer level diagnostic tools for Land Rover and MG Rover Omitec has launched a joint kit covering both of these brands. The OmiPro is the only diagnostic product available that has been developed in conjunction with the vehicle manufacturers delivering true dealer level functionality to the independent garage trade.
Omitec will once again be exhibiting at Mechanex Sandown Park on 21st and 22nd November. This show will see the official launch of Omitec’s new range of Smart Battery Testers and Smart Multimeters and provide the first opportunity for garages to try the products first hand.

Omitec is pleased to announce the relocation of its Training Facilities into a more central location in Long Hanborough near Oxford. The new centre has more spacious facilities than the Devizes site and also carries the IMI seal of approval.
At the ATS & CV Show at the NEC on the 25th April to the 27th April, Omitec showcased its range of products on Stand 1268. There were a number of interactive demonstrations giving garages the opportunity not only to see the range of products but also try them out for themselves.

Omitec training courses are now IMI approved and Q.A.A. accredited giving all candidates access to either associate of full membership of the Institute of the Motor Industry. Furthermore, all courses are delivered at IMIM approved training facilities including Omitec’s own training school in Oxford.
