Senior Mechanical Project Engineer
As part of a busy team you will be responsible for the mechanical and some electrical design and management of bespoke solutions for assembly, verification and test equipment.
38 hour flexible working week plus generous company pension, Life Assurance & 25 days holidays plus Bank Hols. Salary negotiable depending on experience.
Scope of the job
- Undertake concept and detailed 2D and3D design of projects as required using Solidworks
- Work under your own initiative in creating machine concepts
- Manage projects from conceptual phases through to completion
- Make some travel to customer premises for project feasibility, specification, installation, commissioning and general customer support.
- Support the Engineering Manager in the concept, design, build, test and commissioning of bespoke engineering equipment for a diverse portfolio of projects.
Skills Required
- Extensive experience in designing and implementing automated inspection, delivery and or processing equipment
- Good Knowledge of mechanical design including hydraulics and/or pneumatics
- Preferably experience in working with a 2D and 3D CAD system
- Project management and leadership
- Qualities to inspire to include excellent team working/relationship building with all management levels.
- Good understanding of mechanical, electromechanical systems.
- Understanding of appropriate materials selection, using experience in a wide range of materials.
- Good communication skills, written and oral.
- Keen to work as an integral part of a small multidisciplinary team.
- Clean driving licence and prepared to travel to customer sites, with the potential for work on customer site during un-social hours.
- Self-motivated and disciplined with the ability to work on multiple jobs concurrently.
- Proactive and capable of meeting deadlines and achieving timely project delivery.
- Flexible and keen to learn new skills.
- Microsoft Office (to include Microsoft Project) conversant.
- Good hands-on approach.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
Desirable Skills
- Electrical and/or electronic development experience
- Experience in SolidWorks 2D/3D CAD system
Qualifications
- Qualified to degree level or equivalent in mechanical/electromechanical design preferably with a CAD bias.
Experience
- Extensive experience in a mechanical design and project management/engineering role
- Automotive, industrial or other system based sector experience
- Experience of working in a multi disciplinary engineering team
Others
Travel between company sites required on an as needed basis
